WE KEEP OUR SUPPLY CHAIN AS LOCAL AS POSSIBLE TO SUPPORT ETHICAL AND SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION.
From our deadstock fabric provider to our ‘cut and sew’ manufacturer, most of our production takes place within the U.S. — specifically, Los Angeles and New York City.
“Up until the late 1970s, The United States produced at least 70 percent of the apparel purchased by Americans… by 2012, it was down to 2.5 percent.” - Fashionopolis: The Price of Fast Fashion and the Future of Clothes, Thomas
At Lâcher Prise, we strive to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible and help revive the American garment industry.
Our manufacturers are defined on a human and ethical scale, complying to environmental and labor regulations. We can only be confident to work with partners that can provide us with fair living wages, certifications and benefits. The capacity of our workshops is often reduced and perfect for conscious and slow fabrication.
We have recently outsourced some of our production to Europe to maximize our orders and get access to better craftsmanship, not always available within the United States.
Our worldwide partners have been audited and provide us with authentic certifications such as SMETA and Sedex, some of the world’s leading standards for social and ethical compliance.
In order to compensate for the carbon emission from our overseas production and shipping, we have recently increased the number of trees we plant for each sale.
